His Photo Diary

‘Click, click, click....’ A young boy who was fond of a camera would sometimes leave for a mountain or for a river hand in hand with his father.

This boy now over 30-year-old still leaves his life moments behind to pictures on friendly terms with a camera. As the number of pictures increase, so the number of memories increases. Today, I made an appointment of us get together to take another memory into pictures. The title is Park Sihoo’s Photo Essay.

Park Sihoo says in a series,

“This is a scene of the West Sea taken right after sunset. When I see the scenery, I get calm.”(pic1)

Late autumn’s countryside landscape is still spotted green here and there. I guess this autumn will have a good harvest, don’t you think? (Park Sihoo smiles.)” (pic2)

“See this seagull that looks like a hawk? Even after photo-taken, it is what I looked at for quite a while. How amazing picture!” (pic 3)

To Park Sihoo, pictures are a thing he is accustomed to like a ‘habit.’ A digital camera and camcorder is always in his bag wherever he goes. After the beginning of performance, he doesn’t go on a picture-taking trip at as leisurely times as he formerly did. Even so, pictures are always hanging around with him every day.

Park Sihoo says, “My father was fond of taking pictures. That’s why I have been so natural with photos so far since young. You remember? In those days, there was no digital camera, right? So, usedn’t we to take our film to a photo studio, waiting in suspense for ‘how these pictures you had taken would turn out?’ Sometimes, there came out a jolted picture out of focus. Sometimes, there came out no face-showing picture in an effort to keep the background (Park Sihoo smiles.) Still so far, looking at the pictures of those good old days, I tend to talk with family members about the memories."

In the drama shooting field, he pass for Mr. Photographer. He captures the staff members’working appearances and actors and actresses’ interesting looks unseen in TV. These photos, called ‘secrete spy cam,’ is said to give many people enjoyment by being open to his fan cafe and drama bulletin board.

Park Sihoo says, “I like natural pictures. Don’t you think, if artificially posing or making believe to be fancy oneself, it would have the picture contriving? Even when somebody takes a picture of me, I should like they will do that unawares to me. If then, the pictures came out more nicely, you know (Park Sihoo smiles).”

Sky after a shower downfall, evening glow painting the whole circumferential world reddish, fast-bygoing world outside the car window.., these are what Park Sihoo wants to contain within his camera lens.

“I think a picture should hold truth. Whether it be a face or a landscape, without there a true heart in which I should like to remember and cherish this moment that I see right now right before my eyes for good and ever, then the picture might have a mere superficial record on the outside, not a inner memory within the inside” says Park Sihoo in a continual succession of tales, whether because he might have had plenty of episodes during filming.

To be continue...
