I sought for the date of this interview and I found out that was at 2009.09.18. Anyway, this is the date when it was published on estar-tv.com in Chinese, but I recognized Park Si Hoo self presentation in English and the lady’s name YiangYiang. Star Tv (Satellite Television Asian Region) is an Asian Tv service owned by 21st Century Fox, so this could be the explanation for the fact that YiangYiang is in New York and Park Si Hoo elsewhere. What enchantment to see him answering to all the questions, which highlight his nature; and of course smiling and laughing much.

Park Si Hoo says he would like to play a bad boy character as Dracula
The most people know about Dracula from various movies based on Bram Stoker’s (1897) horror novel “Dracula”. In a book, Count Dracula is a Transylvanian noble and also vampire who has the castle located in the Carpathian Mountains on the border of Transylvania, Bukovina and Moldavia, which are historical provinces of Romania. Nowadays, there is a Hotel "Castle Dracula" (it has a funny & scary site hotelcasteldracula.ro) and "Dracula" is a well known Romanian tourism brand. Maybe someday Park Si Hoo will have a Dracula Tour in Romania.

The name
Dracula means “Son of Dracul” and in Romanian language the word dracul means
the dragon and also the devil. Historically, existed a prince of Wallachia (the
south of Romania)
named Vlad II (1390-1447). Before he takes the throne of Wallachia by force, he
lived in exile (1431-1436) in Transylvania,
Sighisoara city. At that time (1431) Vlad II was invested knight of the Order
of Dragon, for his bravery in fighting the Turks. He wore the emblem of the
order that’s why he received the surname Dracul (the Dragon). The son of Vlad
Dracul was Vlad III, born in Sighisoara, named Vlad Dracula (1431-1476), also the ruler
of Wallachia years later. As ruler he had a bad
reputation for his excessive cruelty towards his enemies, which became legendary after
his dead, particularly abroad. Vlad Dracula was dubbed posthumously Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Tepes in Romanian language) . Bram Stoker was inspired by Vlad’s patronymic for his character Count Dracula.
I want to share with you all these information
because I’m born and live in Transylvania, Romania and Sighisoara is a town in my county Mures,
and the house where Vlad Dracula was born still stands. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteI love your post, Thank you for sharing Daniela ^^
I'm glad you like it Lookmoo!
DeleteThanks for sharing this VDO interview and the story behind Dracula, Daniela. I had already read about that once before. Most of the time people will think of the blood sucking man. As that story has been portrayed in movies many times.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see this VDO before and it was very interesting.^^
You're welcome Wilma. I'm glad that I could post something new for some of us, including me.
DeleteThere are mercantile interests to keep a sort of unclear distinction between the fictional Dracula and the historical Dracula. In fact they have in common only the name.
So cute^^
ReplyDelete... super cute indeed ^^
DeleteThank you for sharing your information about " Son of Dracul ", Daniela! This's so cool! We're know a little bit about Dracula from many sources but I never heard this story from a Romanian before and you're born in Transylvania! Wow! Such a coincidence! See, another connection between Park Si Hoo & you!^^ Who knows he may really play a role of Dracula in Korean version someday!^^
ReplyDeleteWell, when I learned that Park Si Hoo would like to play a vampire role and specifically Dracula I silenced. I thought some days to write something about it or not. Finally I decided at least to explain the meaning of the name Dracula and whence it comes, because "it's in my backyard" ^^.
DeleteNikki, btw, does exist vampires in Asian tradition?
I hope that Park Si Hoo even if he won't play this kind of role, he will visit Romania Dracula's footsteps.
I'm glad you did it, Daniela! Park Si Hoo's fans are very intelligent and love to learn new thing, like our actor.
DeleteAs far as I know, the answer is no! We have many kind of ghosts but our ghosts never wear suit or live in the luxury cofffin!^^ Sucking blood, I don't think so! But when I have to draw the blood for my regular check up, I like to call those people " Vampires " and their office is " Dracula house ".^^
Park Si Hoo loves to travel, who know one day he will want to visit the Dracul's house to get inspired from it. Please keep your eyes open ( not your neck ) , Daniela!^^
