My Golden Life (2017-2018) and My Daughter, So Young (2011-2012)

The expectation now is really high about

 My Golden life (short by MGL) can exceed the highest audience rating 

from writer So's previous drama " My daughter, So Young (short by MSY)" or not?

Make me decided to do some reseach about this drama to compare with " My Golden Life "

But amazingly, I found many things about MSY that so similar with MGL

Okay! Let's take a look at MSY's Plot!

1. The female lead had twin sibling too ( But they were brother/sister)

2. Seo Young left home when her mother dies, 
She holds her father responsible for her mother's death
 and decides to walk out of his life. 

3. She met the male lead who happend to come from a wealthy family 

and he's the eldest son who would inheritage business from his family.

4. After meeting Seo-young and spending time with her, 
he falls in love and secretly begins aggressively chasing her.

5. However, despite the two having feelings for each other, Seo-young is resistant 
during the whole courtship due to her low social status and personal insecurities. 
When the Kang family finds out the secret relationship between Seo-young and Woo-jae, 
it is met with great resistance.

6. About the father, he has moved on from his kids, feeling it is his time to let go 
and for him to focus on his life. He now works at a woodwork company, 
making wooden furniture and made a special rocking-chair for Seo-young. 
They would later show Seo-young living a blissful life, 
no longer chained by her past sufferings.

Of course, it's a happy ending like other family dramas.

But we can see how much the plot so similar to MGL.

1. The twin sibling like Jian & Jisu

2. Female leads left home with a broken relationship between daughter and father.

3. They met wealthy men and were chasing aggressively too!^^

4. Both of them rejected their men due to their different social status 
So as the other sibling that the girl tried to hide her identity as a rich girl.

5. Finally the father gave up on their children 
(Acted by the same actor, Cheon Ho Jin)
and worked at woodwork company also.

[ ED : Now! We got it, why woodwork shop happen to both dramas?
Because the writer is the one who liked it!^^ ]

One thing I saw, a lot of times lapse happened in MSY.

So far not yet with MGL.

Now, let's look at the rating chart from both dramas

1. MGL reached 40% rating on Ep. # 30 when MSY had to wait until Ep. 34 to get it.

2. But MSY exceeded 45% on Ep. 40 when the best MGL can get so far was 44.2% on Ep. 42.

3. The highest MGL achieved in last episode (50th) was 47.6% [Nationwide]

We may have to wait & see if "My Golden Life" can surpass this tough challenge 

to become a new drama that hold the highest rating records (in this cable era time)

for many dramas after will try to break it for many years to come!
