MGL : How Koreans think about their " New National Drama "

My Golden Life

This drama is unlike typical Korean dramas we had seen before.

And that's why many of us never guessed right what will happen next! Haha!

The good example is...The ending of episode 34 after Jian confessed her love to Do Kyung.

Many fans guessed that will be the ending of her rejecting him 

or maybe it would follow with a big hug from Do Kyung 

after he heard her confession. Hahahaha!

But all of us were wrong!

She still denied him and confirmed she doesn't want to do anything with him.

The frustration goes on (From us^^)

But this is something news for Korean drama.

This writer never let viewers's favorable interfere her writing.

She knew & heard what viewers wanted to see but she won't give us easy.

Because the real world (especially in Korean society ) had changed so much.

The fairy tales in real life doesn't exist in the real world.

And she tries to bring that truthful & painful world into this family drama.

I considered this is a bold move of her.

Sure, if she ended the scene of Jian & Do Kyung showed their passion to each other.

It would satisfy viewers and rating would probably go up also.

But that's not what she wanted to give back to her own country.

It's time for everyone to open their eyes and accept the fact 

besides keep dreaming of the dream they never will have (Most of them).

That's the reason, the story of Jian's father had touched a lot of Korean families

who blamed their parents that brought them into this world in poverty.

Instead of looking at themselves how they can get out of it if they wanted to.

And Jian and the Seo's story represent all of them.

What I talk to you today.

Not because I became an expert about Korean society 

but I read so much from many Korean bloggers who gave their opinion 

about this drama and how it's effected their own visions.

This is the main reason why this drama is so popular with all age groups.

Even it doesn't show the fairy tale story they're familiar or expect to see from the beginning 

like.. a handsome chaebol falls in love with a (cinderella) girl.

But surprisingly, it received a warmth welcome from them

Because they can look at themselves to work hard and stop blaming their parents 

why they lives in poverty and how the life of rich family like Choi who using their power 

stick their noses around other people's lives liked a real stalker do.

I won't go anywhere farther than this....

But just want to share with all of you how Koeans see this drama 

and how it became " Korean National Drama " in 2017 

and will continue in 2018 as well!

And the popularity of the drama never be a skyrocket like this 
without these 2 main actors.

Park Si Hoo & Shin Hye Sun

who represent each side of the society so well.

If KBS wouldn't give the awards to both of them, 

I think my bloods still boiling with anger until today.

Luckily, they did! Hahahaha
